Grounds - Mechanic Services | Facilities and Energy Management | SIU

The Grounds Department Mechanic Area consists of Gary Sisk, Grounds Equipment Mechanic/Supervisor, and Shawn Mifflin, Grounds Equipment Mechanic.

Grounds mechanics maintain non-licensed equipment, they also maintain equipment used by the crafts including lifts, floor scrapers, carpet machines, welders, generators, testing equipment, pipe machines, and pumps.  The mechanics service all generators on campus for each building.  They also service equipment for the Athletics department, Touch of Nature and Wildlife including John Deere Gators, lifts, floor scrubbers, generators, pitching machines, stripping machines, turf management equipment, ATV’s, and tree cutting equipment.  In addition, they handle mechanical issues at University Farms including planting and harvesting equipment. 

To request mechanic services a Request for Facility services Form, signed by the fiscal officer, should be forwarded to the Facilities Operations Center.
