What Can I Recycle?

Facilities & Energy Management is pleased to operate SIU's recycling program.

Please reference the recycling page of the Sustainability Office's website for more information about what can and cannot be recycled.  Instructions for unique items can be found below.

Transparencies:  Send in Campus Mail to MC 6727 or call for box load pick up.

Ink and Toner Cartridges:

When Requesting a Bin

Please include the following information:

  • Building name and number
  • Room number
  • Contact name & phone number
  • Bin size and quantity
  • Any labels needed

Bin Sizes Available:

  • Deskside - 13" high x 16" long x 10" wide
  • 16 gallon - 15.5" high x 19" long x 16" wide
  • 90 gallon - roll out cart

We recommend one deskside bin at each desk, and all items are placed in the one bin. When the bin is full, take it to the central recycling area in your department. The 16 gallons are used for separating by having a bin for each item. Building services will empty the 16 gallon bins.  The 90 gallon carts are emptied by the Grounds Division.

Recycling Route

The Grounds Division runs a weekly recycle route.  Depending on staffing levels, the weather, and other projects, our schedule below is subject to change.
