Meet the Administrative Staff 

Dave Tippy became the Superintendent of Grounds in 2012.  Prior to that Dave was the Assistant Superintendent of Grounds.  Dave has been with Southern Illinois University and Plant & Service Operations since 2007.  Dave is responsible for the direct supervision of an Administrative Aide, Automotive Foreman, and three Grounds Foremen in all duties related to the Grounds Division.

Opie Piper became the Automotive Foreman at Grounds in 2018.  Prior to becoming full-time, he worked as Extra Help, a Maintenance Laborer, and a Maintenance Equipment Operator.  Opie has been with Southern Illinois University and Facilities & Energy Management since 2006 when he began as a student.  Opie’s daily responsibilities include operation of trucks and heavy equipment, recycling, and overseeing the grounds mechanic shop.

Casey Kidd became Grounds Foreman in 2012.  Casey has been with Southern Illinois University and Plant & Service Operations since joining our team in 2012.  Casey is responsible for Zones 2 and 5, which includes Athletics, Facilities & Energy Management, Engineering and outlying areas such as the Transportation Education Center, Glendale, EDC and the Dunn-Richmond Center.

Stacey Preston became Grounds Foreman in 2019.  Stacey has been with Southern Illinois University and Facilities & Energy Management since 2012 when she began as Extra Help and transitioned to a Maintenance Laborer in 2013.  Stacey is responsible for Zones 3 and 4, as well as the concrete crew and the asbestos abatement crew.  Stacey also assists Elizabeth with the hiring of students for Grounds.
